Automotive Certified Technician

Job Description

Gale Toyota is seeking a full time, experienced, Certified Automotive Technician to join our Service team in Enfield, CT. Gale Toyota is a family owned and operated full service Toyota dealership in northern CT serving the Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA areas since 1969. We are looking for someone who can hit the ground running and achieve immediate results through self-motivation. Toyota service experience is a plus but not necessary; ASE certification is required. Compensation package includes salary, paid vacation, and Gale Toyota offers a 401K program and health/dental insurance. Room for advancement based on skills, knowledge, and work performance including attention to detail and personal drive to succeed.

We offer a 5-day work week, competitive hourly rate, no Sundays, and we close at 7 pm. Job Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently perform work specified on repair order in accordance with Toyota and dealership guidelines
  • Test drive vehicles to diagnose issues, test and analyze components and systems using diagnostic tools and shop equipment to troubleshoot cause of problem. Must be hands-on knowledge of shop equipment.
  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and preventive maintenance in a timely manner on mechanical and electrical automotive systems including engine, transmission, steering, suspension, brakes, passenger comfort, safety, informational, entertainment, etc. Complete multi-point inspections and report findings on form to give customer.
  • Communicate with Service Advisor so he/she can inform customer if any additional service is required and the estimated time and cost for the repair.
  • Completion of necessary repairs under warranty and/or recall notification per Toyota specifications

Job Requirements

  • Must possess 2 years of automotive repair experience; strong automotive background and ASE certification are a must for this position
  • A/C certification is a plus
  • High School diploma or equivalent is desirable
  • Must be 21 years of age, possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Desire to be a contributing member of a strong Service team that strives to provide top quality service and complete customer satisfaction
  • Willingness to learn and take on added responsibilities
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Train as necessary to remain well versed with rapidly changing technology, diagnostic techniques, and repair procedures
  • Physical demands:
    • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently with majority of lifting from knee to shoulder height. Must be able to carry 60 pounds approximately 20 feet.
    • Requires standing for extended periods of time on concrete surface
    • Frequent stretching, reaching, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet. Fumes and odors may be present at times due to vehicle maintenance.
    • Work area can be noisy at times and may require hearing protection
    • Requires excellent visual perception and manual dexterity
    • Requires use of safety equipment including but not limited to safety glasses, face shield and/or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, and other protective equipment as required for the task at hand.
    • Requires frequent driving

Automotive Lube Technician

  • Automotive Lube Technicians safely and efficiently perform work specified on repair orders in accordance with Toyota and dealership standards.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including flushes, oil and other fluid changes, lubrication, tire pressure checks and rotations, and multi-point inspections
  • Inspect and test vehicles and record diagnoses and vehicle repair needs on repair order and communicate to service advisors so they can relay to customers
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Must train to learn new technical information and service techniques to remain current with new technology and products
  • Verify warranty and service contract coverage, when applicable, by reviewing documentation and records to explain coverage and exclusions
  • Contribute to Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) improvement in all interactions with customers
